Oracle Rugby takes a look at the Rugby Stories making the headlines in the last few days;
According to SuperSport Aaron Smith has received an official warning from NZ Rugby with regards to the Airport incident in Christchurch on the 6th of October. When will famous people realise that we the public are watching their every move? Surely they know that?
RWC opening fixtures have been released
Planet Rugby reports that the organising committee have released the fixtures for the upcoming #Japan2019 and they leave us with some fantastic mouth-watering clashes early on, if this will backfire we will know eventually, however considering that often the Top 2 in a group clash often ends up being a dead rubber I suspect this is a great decision, well done RWC LOC!! The big games are:
- NZ v SA
- France v Argentina (Who can ever forget the 2007 clash where 6/1 shots Argentina gave their hosts something to think about?
- Australia v Fiji
To name but a few…
According to ESPN Scrum Ruan Ackerman says… Why Not when asked if he would consider playing for England? Hmmm ok well fine then cuzzie if that is how you want it then go for it, Oracle Rugby says that is not a good decision. The Lions back-rower is apparently loving the cash and lifestyle offered by the English and if the evidence of his game for the Barbarians is anything to go by maybe he will like it there?
According to ESPN Scrum England absentees ‘a great shame’ says Robbie Dean, we at Oracle Rugby agree with Mr Dean, the Barbarians have a proud tradition, especially at the festival we know as the End of Year tours and it is definitely a shame that they did not have a go and accept the invitation offered to them.
Ulster stage a 2nd half comeback to deny the King’s a KwaZakhele win as reported by ESPN Scrum, yes this is reasonably accurate, the wind had a lot to do with this game. Ulster finally hit the front in the 73rd minute, but we now we will not have to wait to long for the impending victory the Kings will taste at home!!
Mapimpi signs for the Sharks, Planet Rugby announced that the star of the King’s Super Rugby campaign and who has been plying his unique trade over in Pro 14 has apparently switched to the Sharks. I for one am expecting a decent Sharks team come next year’s Super Rugby. Is this message by Mapimpi indicating that Super Rugby is better than Pro 14? You be the judge!!
RWC #SA2023 according to the Irish Examiner reporter Daniel McConnell (Jeez two c’s, two N’s and another two L’s…what a name!!) Anyway Daniel reckons the Irish should not be upset or surprised about not getting the World Cup go ahead by the RWCL as Ireland are not good enough. France’s Laporte had other ideas and attacked South Africa’s crime rate and murder stats, he also had a go at the ethics involved in the decision. World Rugby hit back making Laporte feel a little small
Anyway that is it for this week, I will do the same on Tuesday night with news that makes Rugby headlines.
