Weekly Whine #14
14th December 2017
This week we look at Responsible Gambling
This is an interesting one, it came up today while I was online sourcing new Bookies to sign up for banner advertising on my website. I won’t mention names but a prominent bookmaker in England replied to today saying that they were not interested in advertising unless I was to display the Gambleware logo including the 18+ logo.
Now the question here is where should one draw the line with regards to warning the so called unsuspecting public about the dangers of gambling? Should I as a tipster / blogger be obligated to warn adults about gambling and the pitfalls that may occur when one overindulges? I did comply as it is neither here nor there with me.
But let’s think about this one for a minute. You cannot bet on my site, I am not a licenced bookmaker nor do I want to be, however I am tipping rugby betting and I am suggesting you risk your hard earned money. I am a winner so the chances of someone following my advice ending up in the pit of disaster are remote as they should only win long-term.
I do also suggest that one partakes in a bit of fun and make the game more exciting, as most of us already know a game with something on it is far more riveting than the opposite?
Now although I suggest you follow me, there is no way I am TELLING you to, nor am I holding the proverbial gun to your head.
Does anyone or any website not offering ACTUAL gambling be responsible for warning people? I say no, my website and those others that preview games and rugby bloggers who tip games surely should not be held responsible for losses incurred because of a few punters who take it too far?
Anyway you decide…
