The Super Rugby final will be played this weekend in Christchurch. We should be in for quite an entertaining match regardless of the bad weather forecasted. The Crusaders have looked like an unstoppable force. They use direct rugby and are well coached, it’s been a great formula for success.
I particularly have been impressed with their subtle skills even from tight forwards. Like carrying the ball in two hands to hold defense lines and identifying space to name a few. The Lions have looked good this season, maybe not quite their former selves but still very good.
Their team ethos has been unwavering and they are not short on belief. Cyle Brink being included is a crucial addition, he’ll be one the Lions will count on to get over the advantage line. We could go on about Jantjies performance being a pivotal one and Marx will have to disrupt the Crusaders Backline but rather than do that I’ll explain my best bet for the week.
Firstly let’s remember this is a final. Finals, generally are close affairs. Secondly, The Lions are in their 3rd consecutive Super Rugby Final.
Two finals have been played in New Zealand which was against the Hurricanes. Now that being said, I have to believe they will have learnt from their mistakes in some way. If not to come home with the title, at least to not lose by more than 18.
They have belief, a strong line up with multiple springboks and experience on this stage. They must however ensure they start strong otherwise it may be a long day at the office.
Value Bet: Malcom Marx Anytime Try scorer (22/10)
Wet conditions, Lions will look to dominate set piece. You can bank on them looking to use their maul as an attacking platform and invariably to score a try.
Malcolm Marx will be in control of the maul at the back and he also adds value in the tight around the fringes.
If the Lions find themselves close you can also be sure the pick and go will be a tactic employed and Marx will be there and thereabouts.
