Munster v Cheetahs
Last year Munster monstered the Cheetahs by thirty three in round two. I sat out the first couple of rounds as I wanted to get a feel for the competition. Last year I have a three unit limit, this year I have downscaled that to just two. I will also only be punting the Cheetahs & Kings games, plus one other. I will however suggest plays on the other games.
Cheetahs start this campaign in Munster, they have been given a twenty two and a half start, three tries. It feels too much. I am of the thinking that they earned something last year. In fact the only two games the Cheetahs lost by more than this handicap were against both the Irish big boys.
At this level I am interested in a small play on the Cheetahs plus.
Kickoff is at 18h15 GMT +2 on Saturday the Hashtag will be: #MUNvCHE
Call: Cheetahs +22.5 at 9/10 for just half a unit.
Zebre v Kings
Zebre take on the kings this week, last year Zebre won just one game away v Kings, in fact they started off at plus eight, I backed them and they won by a country mile. Kings did play in Italy, they played Benetton and lost by twenty eight. The kings are in trouble, or should I say they have been. Financial problems, players leaving, the list goes on.
Recently Japanese care giant Isuzu took over as the main sponsors and have promised to turn the region around. We all know that Rome was not built in a day, nor was PE!!
Seriously though, the Kings are given a very modest and respectful plus 14.5 in this fixture. Zebre however did win all but two of their home fixtures last year. They should win, in fact they will win. Kings do not provide me with much confidence, but they are playing weak opposition and I do feel in the season opener the Kings have a small chance to stay within two tries. It must be noted there is almost zero confidence here.
I do feel that it is the better of the two evils, I cannot realistically think about backing the Italians about the minus fifteen here.
Kickoff is at 20h35 GMT +2 on Friday the Hashtag will be: #ZEBvKIN
Call: Kings +14.5 at 9/10 for just 0.25 units
Cardiff at home look good, at 22/10 I will have a half unit on the board, they won almost all their games at home, they look hard to beat and at that price I am interested.
These are suggestions, I will not be taking any of them, but if you would like my advice here it is…
Connacht at home v Glasgow at 15/10, they don’t appear to get beaten at home much
Ulster -3.5 v Scarlets, this looks the right way to go
Benetton +6.5 v Dragons away seems a little odd, I would go with the away plus here
Edinburgh +5.5 away at Ospreys seems good too
